Journey…And Adventure…

The more I dive, the better I become. This concept is more than just a phrase to me as I continue my diving journey and adventure. I was recently invited to finish the dives for my Search and Recovery Speciality in Lake Mohave, AZ. Always ready and willing for a dive trip, I of course obliged my friends’ request, and made the drive from the Phoenix area to Bullhead City, AZ. As I enjoyed Laughlin, NV across the river; anticipating the night dive that was planned; a thought occurred to me, I was night diving. I was actually night diving; I enjoy night diving, it’s very surreal for me, and is one my favorites. The creatures and sights at night are very different than diving in natural light. I’m aware that some divers don’t like night diving, and they’re entitled to that opinion; but I very much enjoy it. Two years ago, I wasn’t night diving. Two years ago I was barely free-diving in my spare time. Now I’m night diving. It dawned on me during the dive that I’m becoming a better diver, my buoyancy is becoming sharper. I’m becoming more aware of my surroundings as well, and where my body and fins are located. This is a far cry from where I was as a diver last year; let alone two years ago. I believe I owe a thanks to the instructors that have had a hand in that, from all the shops and dive centers I’ve come to patronage over the years. So to them I say; thank you for the fun and the learning, and for helping me to achieve my goals as a diver, everyday should be instructor and dive master appreciation day; because they work so hard to share the greatest part of our world, underwater.
